A Greater Poison chapter 3

Hey! Sorry for the long wait. This is the next chapter. Just so you get an idea how long the story is, I'm thinking about doing about six more chapters including this one Recap: Josh is greated by the Steel family. As he explains what he is there for, he is constantly receiving a hard stare from Amy Steel. As he exits the room to begin a setting analysis, someone follows him from behind.

Chapter 3: Help From a Friend
Josh made his way down the first hallway. He heard the family talking in the previous room. Glancing around at Chris's office, he saw a diary like book on the desk. Picking it up, he briefly skimmed it and came across several entries on the topic of family strife. Quickly tucking the diary away, he contiued to scan. Glancing at the box of insulin needles that Chris had to take, he remembered the latest entry in the diary saying something about an "attempt ot kill me with my own medicine, literally." Picking the box put and the three dicarded needles in the trashcan up, he left the study. As he left, he saw a flash of color down the hallway. Pretending that he didn't notice it, he continued to walk to Kyle's office.
Just then a loud whisper came from the hallway. "Amy! What do you think you're doing?"
"Be quiet, Kyle! You won't understnd anything since you're still a kid. I need to go." Amy hissed back.
"I'm not a kid! I'm a twenty year old man!" Kyle replied exasperated.
"Why don't you CHILDREN come here and explain your actions." Josh grunted crossing his arms. Amy and Kyle walked out. Amy glaring fiercly at Kyle, while Kyle looked down in shame.
The youger man amanged to look up at Josh. "Sorry sir, I just went out to get an extra box of tissues for Mother and I ran into Amy sneaking up on you."
Amy snorted indignately at Josh's raised eyebrow. "Kyle's lying. He could've just asked a maid to get it."
"I just wanted to do something nice for Mother. I haven't been abe to do anything to help her, and you're just making it worse with your attitude!" Kyle said getting annoyed with his older sister.
"You still haven't answered the question Amy. Why are YOU here?" Josh asked quietly. Now, it was his stare that made Amy stay still. It wasn't hard and mean, just questioning and determined.
"I'm a reporter for Global Weekly. I need a a really good scoop so I can get the promotion I deserve. I tired of being a..." She was cut off by Kyle.
"Amy! Don't use that language in front of Mr. Weathers! It offends Mother too."
Amy jabbed him in the gut forcing the air out of his lungs. "I didn't say anything yet, and why should I care about his little feelings?"
"Maybe because he could put you in jail for abusing your brother?" Josh murmured quietly. Amy stiffened at the words. She completly forgot about that fact. With a huff she stalked off. Josh patted Kyle's back. "Don't worry. The Lord will work in her heart." Kyle nodded. "I hope so."
The rest of the week went by quickly. After examining every nook and cranny of the house, Josh began asking the family about Chris. Everyone had glowing answers except Amy who just said, "The kid was too nice for his own good. God never helped me in life and He won't help Chris in death." Josh was about to go and get some supplies that he needed when a car drove into the driveway.
"Thank you God for Your provision!" Josh whispered staring at the car.
"Who is it?" asked Kyle curiously.
"An old friend." Josh replied smiling as Percy got out of the car.
